Provision of support and social inclusion activities for persons at risk

 Centre for Social Rehabilitation and Integration - opened by Plovdiv Municipality in March 2014 as a state delegated activity.  It employs a team of specialists - social workers, a psychologist and a rehabilitator.

Centre for Social Rehabilitation and Integration is a complex of social services with focused activities on communication and social skills of users:

  • Preparation for social acceptance and adaptation of persons with refugee status, people at risk.
  • Supporting people with disabilities unable to leave their homes, through the implementation of a mobile visit by a rehabilitator, psychologist.

Objective

  • Provide social support and motivation for positive change in thinking and behaviour.
  • Increase community sensitivity to the problems of persons at risk.

Access to services
Those wishing to use services at the centre are referred by the Social Assistance Directorate through a Preliminary Needs Assessment.

Capacity: 30 users 
The following support activities are provided at the Adult Support Centre:

  • General and specialised
  • Preventive, supportive and restorative social services

Generally accessible social services:

  • Information and counselling for the realisation of social rights and skills development
  • Preventive community work - working in the community to prevent risks

Specialised social services:

  • Information and counselling - informing users in the field of social protection about support possibilities, requirements, administrative deadlines, providing specialized literature, information about health facilities, etc. upon user's request.
  • Advocacy and mediation - providing access to different services by contacting relevant professionals from different institutions, organisations, etc. relevant to the user, accompanying when requested by the user.

Therapy

  • Therapeutic sessions for the development of cognitive and social skills; conducted by a specialist of the center and aimed at developing the skills and cognitive abilities of users with special needs, social skills and encouraging communication.  
  • Psychological therapeutic sessions with the aim of overcoming psychological problems. The work is planned according to each particular person.
  • Mobile Rehabilitation - Rehabilitation is primarily aimed at restoring or improving affected motor functions. Rehabilitation enabling the maximum degree of independence and autonomy.
  • Support for the acquisition of work skills - the aim is to provide the user with preparation for the acquisition of skills for participation in work activities, such as preparing a CV, a cover letter, appearing for an interview.
  • Support for learning Bulgarian language
  • Skills training - preparing the user to acquire skills for self-sufficiency, independent living, independent coping with problems and difficulties, as well as skills for caring for and supporting dependent family members. 
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • Persons who wish to use social services in the CSRI for adults at risk submit a written application to the Social Assistance Directorate at their current address.  
  • All persons over the age of 18 may apply for services, provided they have refugee/ humanitarian status.
  • In accordance with the legal requirements, all users of on-site services pay a fee if they have an income/ employment, pension, other source of income/.
  • The centre also provides social services on a mobile basis, through home visits, visits to the place of accommodation.
