The  Ruse catholic organization “Caritas”’ operates on the territory of Noth Bulgaria. The organization provides complex support encouraging social inclusion and effective integration of refugees from Ukraine and third states. The organization provides assistance and works through an individual approach and empathy. They also provide information, as well as accompaniment and assistance related to access to accommodation, education and labour market. 

In the humanitarian centers in Ruse and Varna you can get information about: 

  • Rights and obligations in Bulgaria
  • Initial orientation and consultation
  • Provision of information
  • Translation and support for access to fundamental rights and opportunities for accommodation, education and healthcare
  • Services. Provided by the Caritas network in Bulgaria, or from other partner organisations, as well from public institutions 
  • The organization also provides social consultations for access to services, accompaniment, translation. There are non-formal activities for children. 

Services related to access to the labour market: 

  • Referral to job searching platforms, as well as to other centers that can assist in job searching in Caritas’s network.
  • Preparing a CV
  • Referring to employers
  • Obtaining medical certificate for employment
  • Preparing documents needed for starting a job
  • Support and councelling, aiding in the Labour Bureau Registration
  • Support for entrepreneurship
  • Orientation and aid in starting professional qualification courses.

Bulgarian Language Courses for foreign citizens on A1, A2 and B1 levels 

The courses are conducted both online and in-person and put the focus on the professional orientation of the participants.

Social services and consultations

  • Aid with translation and filling out documents for public institutions such as Regional Departments on Education, Social Services Agencies, National Income Agency, Ministry of Internal Affairs, health institutions. 
  • Assistance for enrolling children in nursery, kindergarten or school, address verification for social support declaration, finding accommodation and visiting medical professionals.
  • Referring to other social service providers, psychological support, humanitarian aid, legal aid, state and municipal institutions and structures, humanitarian organisations and centers

Providing information for rights and obligations related to public education, for events and activities in the regions and advice on building better life in Bulgaria

Children’s services:

The organisation offers non-formal artistic, educational and sport group activities for children, as well as assistance for learning Bulgarian language and developing skills that would aid their access to the education system.  

The activities aid practical acquisition of Bulgarian language, fun activities for the children and free time for their adult parents and relatives.

In addition, the centers offer working with parents and motivating them to enroll their children in school, as well aiding the process of enrolling children at school and kindergarten. 

The humanitarian center “Caritas” in Ruse organizes monthly initiatives for socialing the refugees and their integration with local communities through meeting, public events and inclusion in city holidays.

Food vouchers of the amount of 250 lv are available for Ukrainian citizens belonging to vulnerable groups and fulfilling strict criteria. The assessment of whether a person is eligible for this support is made by Caritas’s associates in Varna and Ruse

This kind of support will be available until the end of August 2023.
